The GT Radial GT259 summer tire is designed for installation on the steering axle of long-haul trucks. The tire is distinguished by excellent traction and high economic efficiency, which is ensured by the use of both previously used and new technical solutions and materials.
Increased service life
The significant increase in the tire's economic efficiency is ensured by its extended service life. To achieve this, the developers used several solutions. One of them is the increased tread width. It has a profile with variable curvature, which provides a larger contact patch area and, as a result, reduces the mechanical impact on the tire. In addition, this significantly improves the traction properties on dry pavement.
The second factor that increases the tire's service life is the rubber compound. The use of modern polymers has made it possible to increase the strength of the tread against rupture and stretching. As a result, the tire is distinguished by its resistance to wear.
The wear resistance of the tread is achieved due to the optimized ratio of the width of the shoulder zones and the central part of the tread. This feature provides a more even distribution of the weight of the truck across the contact patch, which reduces the likelihood of uneven wear.
Improved traction on wet roads
The longitudinal ribs in the central part contain numerous cuts. They form a large number of sharp edges that easily penetrate the water film on the road surface. The effectiveness of these elements is further enhanced by their angular shape and transverse arrangement.
