The Roewe eRX5 is a compact crossover, representing one of the variants of the RX5 model, differing in the type of power unit used. The car has been produced since 2016.

First Generation

The car, presented in 2016, was stylistically and in terms of dimensions close to the popular Volkswagen Tiguan model in our country. The interior design was similarly executed, down to the handles, buttons, transmission selector, and central tunnel. The only difference was the layout of the front console, which already had a standard multimedia system with a 10.4-inch display, "on board" of which the YunOS operating system was installed, initially created for portable gadgets. The car offers a 2-zone climate control system, automatic parking system, WiFi router, servo-driven trunk lid, electric heating of the steering wheel, matrix headlights, as well as panoramic glazing of the roof with an area of over 1.1 square meters.

In technical terms, the crossover is practically identical to the original model, being created on the SSA platform with a "multi-link" rear suspension and an electromechanical power steering amplifier. The key difference was the hybrid power unit based on the base version's engine - an in-line turbocharged "four" with a volume of 1.5 liters and a power of 169 hp, to which a 41-hp electric motor and a traction battery pack with an on-board charging device were added.

Second Generation

In the spring of 2022, the second-generation crossover was released. It differed significantly from its predecessor in its thoroughly redesigned design, which no longer resembled the German model, and its more aggressive exterior. The standard equipment included LED headlights and a light strip between them. The increased dimensions were due to the use of a modified platform, which increased not only the wheelbase but also the width and height of the car, making it a "classmate" of mid-size models.

The crossover's interior underwent no less radical changes, executed in a minimalist style, featuring a two-level central tunnel. However, the most striking element was the combined separate displays of the instrument panel and multimedia system, covered with a 27-inch diagonal panel. The unit had a sliding mechanism, allowing it to be moved 300 mm towards the front passenger. In technical terms, the car stood out with a modernized hybrid power unit. It received a new turbocharged engine with a volume of 1.5 liters, operating according to the Miller cycle and having a thermal efficiency of 40%, with an output of 188 hp and 300 Nm. The electric part is represented by a motor block with a power of 79 hp, located between the internal combustion engine and the 10-speed transmission.
