The mid-size Li L8 crossover debuted in the Chinese brand's production lineup in 2022. Its appearance is due to the successful sales of the larger One model, which appeared four years earlier, leading to the creation of a whole line of crossovers with hybrid powertrains.

Main differences

In the model range, this crossover replaced the aforementioned One, having similar dimensions. However, technically, it is connected to the flagship L9, located one step higher, using the same platform, but in a modified version, differing in a reduced distance between the axles by 100 mm. Similarly, the length of the car was reduced, but the "flagship" design features were almost completely preserved. In the interior, the same approach is traced, since the front part of the cabin in both models is fully identical, including the absence of a dashboard in its usual place. All basic data on movement is displayed on a miniature display integrated into the upper part of the steering wheel hub. They are also duplicated on a much larger projection screen on the windshield. Almost the entire right part of the front console from the driver is closed by two 15.7-inch displays, one of which is used to control various car settings, and the second is exclusively for the multimedia system.

In terms of equipment, the crossover largely repeats the flagship model, differing in slightly greater simplicity. In particular, the split seats in the second row do not offer retractable footrests, folding tables, and built-in speakers of the audio system. Additionally, there is no 15.7-inch display on the ceiling, which, however, can be returned to its former place by ordering a more expensive trim option. For the same reason, the multimedia system has only one Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor platform, not two. Also, an automatic control system with a lidar under the windshield is offered for an additional fee. It is created on two Nvidia Orin-X processors with a total performance of 508 tops. The standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control with a Horizon Journey 5 chip on 128 tops.

Technically, the car is fully unified with the entire line of crossovers, including the flagship L9. Already in the standard equipment, there is an air suspension with electronic control, as well as a hybrid power plant of a sequential type. Under the hood, there is an in-line gasoline "four" with a volume of 1.5 liters and a power of 154 horsepower, operating according to the Miller economic cycle and used as a constant current generator. The wheels are driven by electric motors, one on each axis, delivering up to 177 horsepower forward and up to 272 horsepower backward. The total power of such an installation reaches 449 horsepower and 620 Nm. Almost the only technical difference was the capacity of the traction battery. Due to the shortened wheelbase, it was reduced to 42.8 kWh, as well as the range on electric traction - up to 210 kilometers. The total distance without recharging using a gasoline engine is 1315 kilometers. The wheels are also a feature of this crossover, having a smaller diameter than the flagship L9 - 20 inches.
