History

The founders of the company are the brothers Ahmad and Mahmoud Khayami, who created it in 1962. For the first three decades, the company was engaged in the production of the Paykan model, a licensed copy of the British Rootes Arrow, a mid-size sedan. The last copies of this car were released in 2005, due to its extremely high popularity in Iran. The model had several modifications, including the Bardo pickup, which remained in production for another 10 years, until 2015. The successor to the Paykan was the Samand, also a mid-size sedan, using the Peugeot 405 platform, as well as most of the PSA engines installed on it, including the popular TU5 around the world. Access to the components of the French automaker appeared as a result of a partnership agreement concluded in 2009. At this time, the Iranian company began to assemble a number of Peugeot models under license - 206, 405, Pars, and Roa. Moreover, only 5-10% of the components were imported, and everything else was produced on the spot, including engines, for which a separate enterprise was built in Iran. In 2012, the cooperation had to be interrupted due to the imposition of sanctions against Iran. Nevertheless, four years later, the partnership was resumed.

Model Range

Currently, the lineup of models of the Iranian brand consists mainly of passenger cars and commercial equipment developed on their basis. This is a pickup Arisun 2, built on the Peugeot 405 platform.
