Serial production of the Hongqi HS7 crossover began in 2019. The car is positioned as a full-size model, and in the lineup of the Chinese brand, it is one of the flagships.

First Generation

The crossover presented in 2019 turned out to be close in size to such popular cars in our country as the BMW X5 and Audi Q7, offering a wheelbase exceeding three meters - 3008 mm. The belonging to the brand's flagships is emphasized by the brand's signature red "fin" present on both the hood and the radiator grille. Despite the body type, the model is largely unified with the flagship H9 sedan, using the same platform, but in a modified version, differing from the 2-link front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, composed of more massive elements. Additionally, "all-round" pneumatic balloons are present, providing excellent smoothness and absence of rolls. Under the hood was a 3-liter V6 gasoline engine with a turbocharger, developing 337 hp and 445 Nm. This is the consortium FAW's own development, which is combined with an 8-speed "automatic" from the Japanese Aisin. The standard equipment includes an all-wheel drive system with a connectable front axle. Its operation is "linked" to the engine and transmission, for which eight modes are provided, two of which are designed for use outside roads with solid coverage.

The salon, as befits a flagship model, was distinguished by the presence of natural materials - leather, veneer. Additionally, it had a 3-row layout, while the middle row "captain's" chairs were absent, but the outer sections offered heated and ventilated seats. The front panel was distinguished by the presence of three screens, two of which were assigned to the instrument panel and "multimedia", and the third was a touch panel for controlling the climate control system. The list of additional options was distinguished by a longer list of equipment than the standard equipment. It included a 3-zone "climate", Bose acoustics, displays for rear passengers, panoramic roof glazing, cameras with a circular view, and much more.

Second Generation

In 2023, the premiere of the crossover of the next generation took place. It favorably differed from its predecessor with a completely redesigned design, executed in a much more aggressive style, while preserving the brand's signature features - a red "fin" on the hood and a massive chrome-plated radiator grille. The lack of visible connection with the previous model is due to the fact that initially this model was planned to be presented under the index HS6. For the same reason, the novelty turned out to be simpler technically than its predecessor. First of all, due to a different platform, which, although it had a modular architecture, did not allow the use of a pneumatic suspension, which became a classic spring one. Additionally, instead of double levers in the front, "MacPherson" struts appeared. Another difference was the noticeably smaller size in all directions, as well as a wheelbase of 2920 mm instead of 3008 mm in the previous model. The salon still had three rows of seats. The front console was distinguished by a huge tablet that occupied almost the entire central part, and the virtual instrument panel was supplemented with a projection screen on the windshield.

Under the hood, instead of the V6, a 2-liter inline-four gasoline engine with a turbocharger of FAW's own design and a fuel injection system capable of operating at a pressure of 350 bar was located. At peak loads, this power unit produces up to 252 hp and 380 Nm of torque. It is supplemented with a hybrid add-on in the form of a 48-volt starter-generator, which helps when starting from a place and the first seconds of acceleration, as well as saving fuel when braking, increasing the operating time of the "start-stop" system. The power unit still unambiguously combines with the all-wheel drive system and the 8-speed "automatic" from Aisin.
