FAW Hongqi H5 – a sedan from one of the "FAW" sub-brands, which was first introduced back in 2017. The model turned out to be quite successful, as evidenced by the release of the second generation, which began its existence in 2022.G1
The sedan from "Red Flag" (that's exactly how the brand name translates) was built on a platform from the third generation Mazda 6. This model was chosen due to the availability of all technical capabilities at the FAW concern, which also assembles the model from the Japanese manufacturer.Initially, only a turbocharged engine with a volume of 1.8 liters was available, producing 178 horsepower at its peak. It was paired with a classic 6-speed "automatic" transmission. In 2020, as part of a series of modernizations, a version with a 1.5-liter engine was also introduced, which produced 169 horsepower. Its "partner" was a 7-speed robotic transmission with a wet clutch. During the same period, the 1.8-liter engine was also modernized, which was supplemented with an electric motor, creating a hybrid with 197 horsepower. However, the transmission remained the same – a 6-position automatic transmission.

A new generation was introduced in 2022. Now, the sedan is based on its own platform, developed by FAW engineers. In terms of its exterior, the car resembles the flagship N9, only in a reduced version. Notably, the development of the new design was handled by Giles Taylor – a designer who previously worked at Rolls-Royce.Under the hood of the car, they install the same 1.5-liter engine with a 7-speed "robot", as well as a 2-liter unit with a turbocharger, producing 224 horsepower. The latter is paired with a classic "automatic" transmission. In addition, there is also a hybrid version, the basis of which is the 1.5-liter engine, supplemented by an electric motor on the front axle with 190 horsepower.
