Giti Winter Tires Receive EV Marking
Giti Tire, like several other manufacturers, uses a special marking that is applied to tires adapted for use on electric and hybrid vehicles, and earlier the company supplied it with summer models Giti GitiSport S2 and GitiSynergy H2, and not so long ago it was announced that a winter tire, namely the non-studded GitiWinter W2 of the European type, has been added to this list for the first time.
The AdvanZtech EV ready marking was received by GitiWinter W2 in 17 sizes with a diameter from 15 to 20 inches, and the company emphasizes that the tires are prepared for the impact of increased torque, as well as have reduced rolling resistance, which increases the range of electric vehicles, but all modifications did not lead to a decrease in safety in difficult conditions on snow and wet asphalt.
Tires with the EV marking have been released in sizes for compact passenger cars, including the Fiat 500e and Tesla Model 3, as well as for crossovers such as the Volkswagen Tiguan and Volvo XC60. In total, GitiWinter W2 is offered in 61 sizes from 13 to 21 inches.
The new marking was presented in August 2024, and all tires that received it were created using the AdvanZtech technology, which allows improving various operational characteristics of products, at the Giti scientific and technological center in Hanover (Germany).
According to Fabio Pecci-Boriani, Deputy General Manager of the Scientific Center in Hanover for planning the range of passenger and light truck tires, Giti was one of the first companies to start using a new approach to electric vehicle tires in the mid-range segment, simplifying the choice for end-users.
He also added that in winter, electric vehicle owners may face a reduction in range associated with low temperatures, and in addition, tires may have difficulty providing the necessary traction with increased torque on slippery surfaces, and "Giti GitiWinter W2 AdvanZtech EV ready largely solve these problems".
