Sumitomo Tire Plant Closure Confirmed

Sumitomo Rubber company recently announced that its tire plant in Tonawanda, New York, will officially close on May 15, 2025. The decision has been postponed from the previously announced closure date of February 15. At the same time, the company reported that the number of layoffs has increased to 1,397 due to the advancement of closure plans, which is 17 more than previously announced.
