Yokohama releases new tire for long-haul transportation

Yokohama begins sales of new long-haul truck tires for the lead axle Yokohama BluEarth 718L, which have received certification from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and are designed to help fleets reduce fuel consumption and costs through reduced rolling resistance. 

“The 718L was designed for maximum fuel efficiency and durability to meet the needs of customers who transport goods over long distances,” said Tom Clauer, senior manager of commercial truck tire product planning at Yokohama Tire. “The tire boasts an improved compound and new tread pattern that help reduce rolling resistance and uneven wear, as well as improve traction, which increases the resource and economy. In general, this is the ideal choice for long trips”.

The connected blocks of the 718L tread make wear more even, and the design of the groove walls has been improved to prevent stone trapping, which also increases the lifespan of the new tires. In addition, the shape of the narrow tread grooves is optimized to reduce rolling resistance and increase traction on both wet and dry roads. The central zone features deep grooves that stabilize grip throughout the life of the tire, and the reduced groove depth in the shoulder sections increases tread stiffness, reducing uneven wear. 

Yokohama BluEarth 718L has entered the US market in four key sizes: 295/75R22.5, 11R22.5, 285/75R24.5 and 11R24.5, and are available with a 7-year warranty on tread restoration.
