In Russia, they are import-substituting resins for the tire industry

In Lesosibirsk, a unique production of phenol-terpene resins used as raw materials in the tire industry will be created in Russia. The project is being implemented by the Siberian Forest Chemical Plant (part of the biocchemical holding company "Orgkhim"), which has already started producing trial batches of products, and a loan of 100 million rubles from the Industrial Development Fund of the Krasnoyarsk Territory is expected to allow for full-scale production. This is reported by the official portal of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Currently, domestic tire companies depend on imports of phenol-terpene resins from abroad, and the new project is aimed at complete import substitution of this type of raw material. The launch of serial production with a capacity of 120 tons per year is planned for next year, and within four years, the enterprise intends to occupy more than half of the Russian market for phenol-terpene resins.

"The creation of our own production of phenol-terpene resins is an important step in the development of the chemical industry in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the entire Russian tire industry," said Maxim Ermakov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. "The launch of the project will provide Russian manufacturers with high-quality domestic raw materials, create new jobs, and increase tax revenues to the budget."

The total investment amount will be 126.6 million rubles, of which 26.6 million are the company's own funds, and state support will allow for the purchase of modern Russian equipment, modernization of production, and acquisition of raw materials.

"This is a landmark project for the entire Russian chemical complex," emphasized Nikolai Khodov, General Director of Orgkhim. "We are creating not just a new production facility, but an entire competence that has not existed in the country before. Our plant is the only one in Russia that produces phenol-terpene resins, and we are ready to increase production volumes to fully meet the needs of domestic tire manufacturers."
