The Ulyanovsk Gislaved plant has produced its millionth tire
The Gislaved plant in Ulyanovsk, formerly owned by Bridgestone and now part of the Cordiant holding, which restarted production after a nearly three-year hiatus, has produced its millionth tire, which is the studded Gislaved SpikeControl. In November 2024, the plant started working in test mode, and the official restart took place in March 2025. By the end of this year, the plant plans to produce 1.2 million tires.
Currently, the plant's range includes three tire models: the summer Cordiant Run Tour, as well as the studded winter tires Cordiant Sno-Max 7000 and Gislaved SpikeControl. The Cordiant and Gislaved brands belong to the mid-range and premium segments, respectively, and the number of unique sizes in their lines is 147. Together with the Intair Research and Development Center, active work is underway to expand the size range, test new products, and produce installation batches, the company noted.

According to Vadim Volodin, General Director of Cordiant JSC, "The Gislaved plant in Ulyanovsk is of great importance for the Cordiant holding, its successful operation allows us to increase our presence in the premium segment of the market due to the Gislaved brand."
"The enterprise has unique expertise and high technological potential, which gives a competitive advantage over other market players. The production of the millionth tire is a landmark event for the plant and the entire holding," added the head of Cordiant.
Gislaved SpikeControl is a new product for the 2025/2026 winter season, featuring a V-shaped tread pattern that accelerates the removal of water and snow slush from the contact area with the road, and is equipped with directional studs with enhanced fixation, increasing safety on ice. The rubber compound is designed to combine optimal elasticity with increased wear resistance. The tire is available in sizes from 13 to 20 inches.
The Ulyanovsk plant started producing products in 2016, and the official opening took place in 2017. The plant's projected capacity is 2.4 million tires per year, and it was an asset of Bridgestone until December 2023.
