Sumitomo Reduces Production in China
Sumitomo Rubber Industries will carry out a large-scale technical re-equipment of the plant in Changsha (Hunan, China) due to the introduction of new environmental regulations in China.
It is reported that the production volumes at the enterprise will be reduced from 21 to 8.4 million tires per year. The project to increase capacity by 10.5 million passenger and light truck tires per year, which was planned to be launched in 2015, will be canceled, and the company will focus on modernizing the existing capacity, which was commissioned in 2011.
The company notes that the equipment at the plant will be modernized, and in particular, measures will be taken to improve the efficiency of exhaust gas collection. In addition, the reduction in capacity will significantly reduce emissions of harmful substances, which will help the company meet environmental protection requirements.
