SRI conducts successful visualization of sulfur bonds for the development of tire performance maintenance technology
In the course of research, SRI claims to have created the world's first technology capable of measuring the structure and chemical state of a substance at the nanolevel thanks to the active use of the powerful SPring-8 synchrotron radiation facility.
The company worked in collaboration with Professor Yukio Takahashi from the International Center for Synchrotron Radiation Innovation Smart at Tohoku University in Japan, Riken, and Yusuke Tamenori and the Director of the Japanese Synchrotron Radiation Research Institute.
Using the new tender X-ray nanoscope technology, SRI and its partners were able to visualize sulfur compounds used in lithium-sulfur batteries in greater detail than before. The project partners believe that the technology can be applied to tire research programs and may lead to the production of tires with even higher performance levels.
