Goodyear has announced the expansion of the size range of its premium winter tires, Goodyear UltraGrip Performance 3, which "have been awarded and demonstrated their superior qualities, made possible by advanced technologies".

In 2024, the tires will be available in over 40 new sizes, many of which are already on sale. 90% of the new sizes have a rim diameter of 19 inches or more, which is related to the market trend towards larger wheel sizes. The Goodyear UGP3 is optimized for use on a wide range of vehicles, including popular electric cars in Europe, such as the Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer, Renault 5 E-Tech, Porsche Taycan, and BMW i5. Taking into account the characteristics of electric vehicles, the tires have been improved to reduce rolling resistance and noise levels, notes the manufacturer.

"Goodyear UltraGrip Performance 3 provide exceptionally high traction in winter due to innovative technologies such as Snow Protect Technology [a special compound that reduces braking distance on snow] and Wet Grip+ Technology [a large number of gripping edges improves traction on wet roads]," the company says. "The tire has proven itself well in extreme winter conditions, and its advantages have been confirmed in a number of European tests, including tests conducted by Auto Bild magazine in 2023, in which they received the Eco-Meister and Green Tire awards [for environmental friendliness]"

The tires are also produced using SoundComfort technology, which reduces noise, while the SealTech technology allows sealing holes in the tread up to 5 mm in diameter, increasing the convenience of using the vehicle.

"The expansion of the size range of one of our newest winter tires is evidence of the popularity of this product," said Sonia Leneveu, Director of Marketing for Goodyear's European consumer tire division. "Advanced technologies make the tire highly attractive to motorists, and it has already been recognized as one of the best in its class".
