Pirelli introduced new track tires
The Pirelli range has been expanded with the new track tire Pirelli P Zero Trofeo Track, which will be offered exclusively in the US market and produced at the company's plant in Rome (Georgia, USA). The new Pirelli tires are designed for racing championships that require road-legal tires, and although the Trofeo Track belongs to this category, considering the almost slick tread pattern, it is definitely not recommended to use them in everyday life.
"Essentially, this is a slick tire, and small grooves have been added to meet the DOT [US Department of Transportation] requirements, but it was initially designed as a racing tire," noted Emmanuele Vanzetti, the engineer who led the creation of the Trofeo Track. "We developed it for use with the pressure level used on the track, as well as to provide a wide operating range."

The tires will be available in sizes with diameters from 17 to 21 inches, which will allow them to be installed on a wide range of modern cars, and are intended, among other things, for track day enthusiasts. According to Vanzetti, the tires have been tested both on European tracks, where Pirelli usually works, and on American tracks, and, for example, just a few weeks ago, tests were conducted at the Carolina Motorsports Park in South Carolina.
One of the main tasks was to create a tire that allows you to show a good lap time for a long time. Not so long ago, tests for the press were held in Monza (Italy), and Chris Perkins from Motor1 told how the 315/30 R19 tires behave on the Ford Mustang Dark Horse.
"What we immediately noticed was how agile the car feels on the new tires," he noted. "The Mustang Dark Horse is definitely not the lightest car, weighing almost 4000 pounds (1800 kg), but in the first slow chicane in Monza, it easily changes direction. That day, I also tested the Pirelli road tires, which were also excellent, but the way the Trofeo Track resists understeer in places where it's very easy to overdo it with speed and get off the trajectory was admirable. The braking properties are also excellent, as is the stability. The Dark Horse itself has very effective brakes, but with these tires, you can be unlimited even on such a fast track as Monza."
