Overview of the Venom Power Off-Road Lineup

On the global market of off-road tires, there are many players, including both manufacturers and companies offering products under their own private brands, which are manufactured at partner facilities. In the US, one of the prominent participants in this segment is Transamerica Tire Co., Ltd., whose Venom Power brand is largely oriented towards off-road enthusiasts and is represented in many countries around the world, including Russia.

In this article, we will tell you about the current models that make up the off-road lineup of the brand:

Venom Power Trail Hunter ATS. A tire designed for both off-road vehicles and pickups, as well as for crossovers that are mainly used on city streets, i.e., combining moderate off-road capabilities with improved ride smoothness and reduced noise level.

The tread pattern with evenly spaced blocks and a "medium" negative profile is designed to improve the balance of characteristics on asphalt and off-road, and the lamellas in the tread lugs enhance traction on wet and snowy roads. Additionally, the two-stage shoulder block walls create additional traction edges, improving handling when driving on rocky surfaces, and the variable tread pitch, optimized using computer modeling, reduces noise, and on the sidewalls, on both sides, there are mud grips of two shapes: in the form of wedges and fangs. Size range: 17-24 inches.

Venom Power Trail Hunter ATX. Classic all-terrain tires designed for operation both off-road and on asphalt, and the improved comfort level, according to the company, makes them suitable for everyday use.

The tread pattern includes "multifunctional" grooves and lamellas that increase traction in various road conditions; shoulder blocks of the same shape increase the contact patch, increasing traction; and protrusions in the grooves accelerate the cleaning of the tread from dirt and prevent stones from getting stuck. The tread pitch has also been optimized to reduce noise and improve ride comfort, and the sidewalls have a distinctive design with mud grips that increase off-road capability. Sizes: 20-22 inches.

Venom Power Trail Hunter R/T. A Rugged-Terrain class tire that is closer to mud tires in terms of off-road capabilities but provides higher ride comfort on paved surfaces compared to Mud-Terrain class tires.

The tread pattern design with deep grooves improves off-road capability while also increasing resistance to aquaplaning and extending tire life, and the lamellas increase traction and reduce braking distances on wet and snowy surfaces. It is also noted that the tires can provide high traction in mud, sand, rocks, etc. Acoustic comfort is improved due to the optimized tread pitch, and stone deflectors are also provided to reduce the likelihood of damage to the carcass, as well as holes for studding. Sizes: 16-22 inches.

Venom Power Terra Hunter R/T+. Another Rugged-Terrain category tire with an increased tread depth, allowing it to more effectively counteract aquaplaning and travel more kilometers before replacement.

In the shoulder areas, there are alternating mud grips of different shapes that increase traction on rocky surfaces, and between them, there are protrusions to repel stones. Additionally, the variable tread pitch reduces noise, and it is noted that the tires can also provide a comfortable ride on asphalt. Sizes: 17-28 inches.

Venom Power Terra Hunter X/T. Universal tires that, according to the company's statements, provide both good comfort on highways and high off-road capability. The tread pattern resembles the legendary BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 but with more pronounced outlines.

A special "off-road" compound has improved tire durability, deep grooves and lamellas increase traction in a wide range of road conditions, and shoulder blocks of different shapes increase the number of traction edges, which is beneficial when driving on rocky roads. In addition, mud ejectors accelerate self-cleaning of the tread, and a wide contact patch increases stability on both asphalt and off-road. Sizes: 15-28 inches.

Venom Power Terra Hunter X/T2. A second-generation tire with a similar tread pattern but with a snowflake marking - including in sizes with a larger rim diameter - i.e., tests for the required level of traction on snow have been passed.

The tread pattern is designed to reduce noise without compromising traction, handling, or durability, and the tires can function effectively on various surfaces, increasing controllability, including on slippery surfaces and when performing emergency obstacle avoidance. It is reported that the tires were developed taking into account the wishes of off-road enthusiasts who had previously tested the Terra Hunter X/T model, and in accordance with their opinions, the design of the shoulder areas and sidewalls was modified, which improved the reliability of the tires and stability during intense off-road use. Reinforced shoulder blocks increase resistance to lateral drift when maneuvering, and Transamerica emphasizes that the tires work excellently even in heavy rain. Size range: 15-20 inches.

Venom Power Terra Hunter M/T. "Mud" tires, which, according to Transamerica, have a "time-tested classic 'mud' tread pattern", and indeed, there is a strong resemblance to the Toyo Open Country M/T.

The design with polygonal blocks is designed to improve traction in the most complex weather and road conditions, including snow, sand, and rocks; deep lamellas increase the effectiveness of acceleration and braking on wet surfaces and in winter conditions; and to improve ride comfort and off-road performance, stone and mud ejectors have been added to the tread pattern. Size range: 17-28 inches.

Venom Power Swampthing A/T. All-terrain tires created taking into account the experience gained during the design of the Trail Hunter ATX and Terra Hunter X/T models, and developed to provide both high traction off-road and reduced noise when used on paved surfaces.

Venom Power Swampthing A/T

Swampthing A/T tires are available in versions with a 12-layer standard, making them suitable for use on vehicles that require tires with increased load capacity, and the warranty mileage in sizes from 22 inches is 89,000 km. The lineup includes sizes with a rim diameter from 15 to 24 inches.

Venom Power Swampthing M/T. A mud tire designed to handle the most extreme off-road conditions.

According to the company, the design is not just made maximally aggressive, but each element performs its function, and the tread pattern, in combination with a specially created rubber compound, is designed to provide "unprecedented traction and control" even in the most complex conditions and on any type of surface. Swampthing M/T tires have a reinforced 3-layer sidewall construction that allows the use of tires at reduced pressure during rock crawling, which increases traction.

Venom Power Ice Hunter WTS. A winter tire for off-road vehicles and pickups, whose design was inspired by sharks, as evidenced by both the tread block design, which repeats the shape of shark fins, and the elements on the sidewalls, created in the likeness of the teeth of an alpha predator of the aquatic environment.

The tires are made from a rubber compound developed to improve traction in winter conditions, and the asymmetric tread pattern was created to improve driving characteristics on asphalt without compromising off-road capabilities. Wide longitudinal and diagonal channels are designed to quickly divert water and slush to the sides, reducing the likelihood of aquaplaning and slushplaning, and the increased density of lamella placement improves handling on slippery surfaces, while large shoulder blocks increase steering sensitivity when cornering. Sizes: 16-22 inches.

It remains to add that many Venom Power tires have a distinctive sidewall design, and the buyer can choose which option will be visible after installing the tires on the vehicle, and Transamerica also offers tires under its Predator, Freedom Hauler, Trailer Master, Transeagle, and Percheron brands.
