Like some other tire manufacturers, the Korean Nexen uses special markings to denote tires that have been adapted for use on both gasoline-powered vehicles and hybrids and electric vehicles, and the company has announced that it has equipped the majority of its passenger and light truck tires in North America with the EV Root symbol.

The flagship of Nexen's EV line in the region is the all-season tire Nexen N'Priz S in the "grand touring" class, available in 48 sizes for cars such as the Tesla Model Y and 3, Toyota Prius, Hyundai Ioniq 6 and Kia EV6, and the company says that AI technologies and virtual simulation were used during its development. In addition, the Nexen N'Fera Sport UHP tires and the Nexen Roadian MTX off-road tires have been modified for use on electric vehicles, and the optimization of the latter model is due to the growing popularity of electric SUVs and pickups.

All tires with special markings are capable of withstanding increased loads when exposed to the instantly available torque of electric vehicles and are characterized by a reduced noise level, and the MTX is also designed for use when transporting heavy loads.

"Regardless of whether you're driving a family crossover to a football practice, a hybrid to a daily commute to work, or an electric car to the grocery store, you deserve tires designed with your vehicle's characteristics and driving habits in mind," said Aaron Neumann, head of Nexen's American technology center. "That's our approach: to ensure that all drivers have the freedom to choose tires as the automotive industry evolves."
