In the Caucasus, the first Bandag tire retreading plant will appear
Bandag, part of Bridgestone, and Tegeta Motors have signed an agreement to build a tire retreading plant in the Georgian city of Rustavi. The new facility will be Bandag's first plant in the Caucasus region, with initial investments of around $2 million.
Bandag notes that the cost of a retreaded tire is 30-40% lower than that of a new one, with comparable characteristics and a lifespan of up to five years. Additionally, retreading requires less raw materials and electricity, extends the life of tires through multiple life cycles, reduces CO2 emissions, and promotes more efficient use of natural resources.
Construction is expected to begin before the end of this year and be completed by the end of 2026. The plant is expected to retread up to 5,000 tires per year, with its capacity to be doubled within five years, according to the project. Initially, tires for trucks and buses will be retreaded.

Representatives from Bridgestone and Bandag will ensure that the new plant meets global standards, and the facility will be equipped with modern equipment manufactured in Europe and the US.

Tegeta Motors is involved in the sale of tires, provides car maintenance services, and participates in waste recycling.
