Michelin reported a decline in revenue
In the first quarter of 2026, Michelin's revenue decreased by 5.4% compared to January-March 2025 and amounted to 6.2 billion euros, which, as the company reported, was due to unfavorable currency fluctuations, in particular, the strengthening of the euro against the dollar.
Sales in units decreased by 1.4%, and Michelin indicates that the decline in demand has slowed down, and positive trends, which were also observed in the last quarter of last year, are being maintained. In the secondary market, sales grew by 3%, which means that the overall volumes are affected by the decline in indicators in the primary equipment sector.
In the passenger and light truck tire segment, sales in physical terms increased by 1%, which was contributed by a 6% growth in demand for premium tires under the Michelin brand in the secondary market. At the same time, in the OE segment, sales decreased - by 4% worldwide and by 12% in China - which, as the manufacturer claims, is due to market weakness and the company's not-so-successful assortment.
Regarding the forecasts for 2026, Michelin says that the Middle East conflict creates uncertainties in the global market and increases the likelihood of disruptions in raw material supplies, as well as increases the company's expenses, primarily for the purchase of raw materials and energy.
"In the current unpredictable situation, Michelin is constantly monitoring the development of events in various markets and their impact on our supply chains," the company said, adding that "at this stage, the forecast for 2026 remains unchanged."
