Mulgrew Haulings reduces costs with Michelin tires

Mulgrew Haulage Ltd. has become the first Irish haulage company to fit its trailers with Michelin's fuel-efficient X One MaxiTrailer tyres.

Michelin X One MaxiTrailer tyres last twice as long as standard Michelin XTE2 (385/65 R 22.5) fitments, prompting the decision to fit them to two new Montracon curtainsider tri-axle trailers.
Michelin tyres are fitted across the Mulgrew Haulage fleet of 130 Scania, DAF and Volvo tractors, plus 300 trailers, with local dealer A1 Tyres supplying the tyres. Michael Murray, the company's Purchasing and Technical Manager, says: "As a progressive company, we're always on the move and changing, investing in innovations that can make our business more profitable".
"The Michelin X One MaxiTrailer offers multiple benefits in terms of longevity and fuel savings, so we decided to fit them to our two new trailers".

Each new Michelin X One MaxiTrailer tyre features the innovative Infinicoil technology, which comprises a 400-metre coil of steel cable wrapped around the tyre's bead to provide increased robustness, longevity and even wear.
Compared to 385/65 R 22.5 tyres, the Michelin X One MaxiTrailer has a 120mm wider tread, which combined with an exclusive tread compound, has increased the tyre's life by 50 per cent.
"We will conduct a series of tests and use the new trailers on several different routes to determine the suitability of the Michelin tyres for our needs, and in the future we plan to fit Michelin X One MaxiTrailer tyres to all of our trailers", Mr Murray concludes.

Michelin X One MaxiTrailer tyres are being fitted to trailers across Europe. Not only do they offer increased longevity, but they also enable a five to nine cubic metre increase in payload volume thanks to their low profile.

A1 Tyres has been responsible for maintaining the Mulgrew Haulage fleet for more than a decade, with its technical competence and standards of customer service meeting the new Michelin standards. Wilson Mackey, A1 Tyres' Managing Director, says: "We're always looking for new ways to help our customers get the best out of their fleets, and we fully support Mulgrew's decision to switch to Michelin X One MaxiTrailer tyres. We're all looking forward to working with the new tyres".
