Michelin invests 60 million euros in a composite materials plant in France

Michelin announces that it is awakening the 5-HMF giant by investing in the world's first demonstration plant for the production of this molecule. 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) is a non-toxic, bio-based molecule with a very low carbon footprint, derived from fructose and enhanced fructose.

Areas of application include brake pads, other automotive parts and fuels, as well as numerous complex non-automotive applications such as aeronautics, construction and space.
