Savings from Bridgestone
29 september 2012
One of the largest manufacturers of automotive tires, Bridgestone Corporation, may lower prices on its products in the second half of the year. This is due to a reduction in expenses. This was stated by the company's financial director, Akihiro Eto.
Recently, the results of the first half of 2012 were summarized, during which it was found that due to the decline of the Chinese economy and the debt crisis in the European raw materials market, the cost of rubber began to fall. This allows for an optimistic forecast for car owners regarding the cost of tires.
However, the price reduction will not affect all tires, but only some of them. In particular, Mr. Eto stated that in order to increase competitiveness, prices for passenger car tires used in the United States and Europe may be increased.
According to the calculation results, the profit of the Japanese corporation for the first half of the current year increased by 43% (operating) and 39% (net profit) compared to 2011.
Therefore, the company's specialists changed their forecast for 2012. In their opinion, sales volumes compared to last year should grow by 3% and amount to 32.2 billion euros, operating profit - exactly half to 2.77 billion euros, and net profit - up to 67% or 1.77 billion euros. Such forecasts are due to the expected decline in raw material prices, as well as an increase in demand in the secondary market.
