Continental releases new all-weather tires

The Canadian branch of Continental held a presentation of two new tires, and if one novelty — the winter Continental VikingContact 8 — was previously already released on other markets, then the second — the all-weather Continental SecureContact AW — was presented for the first time.

SecureContact AW is positioned as the "first all-weather tire from Continental", meaning that, unlike the "all-season" tires common in North America (which, for example, Nokian says are actually "three-season"), it is capable of handling complex winter conditions and has a 3PMSF marking with a snowflake image.

The novelty belongs to the "touring" category and has a tread pattern designed for effective work on snow, as well as reducing braking distances on wet pavement and reducing noise levels. The tires are equipped with wear indicators, and the warranty mileage is up to 100,000 km. Sales will begin at the end of June, and the tire will be available in sizes with a diameter of 15-20 inches for passenger cars, crossovers, and SUVs.

Rory Gleeson, head of tire development at Continental for the northern winter, added that "in every aspect, from tread pattern to material selection, the tires were created to optimally suit the diverse conditions that Canadian drivers face every day." Meanwhile, in Europe, the company announced the release of new summer economy tires Continental EcoContact 7 and EcoContact 7 S, which were presented a year ago.
