Bosch will improve the characteristics of Pirelli's "smart" tires
Pirelli and Bosch have signed an agreement to jointly develop new software solutions to enhance the functionality of embedded tire sensors, which will help increase the level of safety, comfort, etc.
Their "cyber tires" (Cyber Tyre) are called the world's first tires by the Italian company, which, thanks to built-in sensors, can collect and transmit data to the vehicle's control systems in real-time. Bosch had previously developed a new solution that allows Pirelli tires for the Pagani Utopia Roadster to transmit information to the ESP control unit, increasing safety.
Bosch is also a leader in the development of MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) sensors and produces tire pressure sensors using the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) standard. Thus, by combining Bosch's developments with its own technologies, Pirelli intends, in particular, to provide tire data transmission to vehicle control systems while reducing energy consumption.
