Birla Tyres returns to the market
Indian Birla Tyres is most likely to return to the market in the fourth quarter of the current financial year with a new product line, reports the Times of India, citing the words of Anurag Choudhary, CEO of Himadri Speciality Chemicals, one of the owners of the tire company.
Birla was acquired by Himadri Speciality Chemicals and Dalmia Refractories Bharat for 3 billion rupees (36 million dollars), and the updated range will include radial tires for the first time for the company. According to Choudhary, almost all passenger car tires on the Indian market now have a radial structure, while in the segment of truck tires, their share is around 55%.
Birla also intends to invest in "green" technologies and tire recycling together with Himadri Green Technologies Innovation Limited, a "daughter" of Himadri Speciality Chemicals.
Birla Tyres was founded as part of the Kesoram Industries holding in 1991, and received technical support from, among others, Pirelli.
