Beontag will supply RFID tags for Kumho tires

Beontag, one of the world's largest manufacturers of "smart" labels, has signed a partnership agreement with the Korean tire company Kumho Tire. As part of the cooperation, RFID labels from Beontag will be installed in tires for passenger and commercial vehicles, allowing for the tracking of the entire life cycle of the tire from production at one of Kumho's plants to disposal.

According to Beontag, the partnership with Kumho speaks to the validity of the company's strategic investments in RFID technologies, which are offered at competitive prices. "Kumho Tire is a globally recognized leader in the tire industry and one of the leading manufacturers of high-performance and innovative tires for various vehicles, including electric cars, trucks, and racing cars," Beontag notes. — Kumho Tire's commitment to the highest industry standards, the introduction of innovative technologies, sustainable development, and safety improvement perfectly aligns with Beontag's core principles," the company adds.

It is also reported that after several years of development and testing, the partners can guarantee that the RFID labels are durable and reliable, and can withstand high temperatures and pressure for a long time. In addition, the traceability of tires complies with the European Ecodesign for Sustainable Product Regulations (ESPR) directive, which requires the use of digital product passports and will come into force in the tire industry in 2028-2030.

Jihon Pak, Technical Manager at Kumho's American branch, added that the company has been producing tires with RFID labels since 2013, and the cooperation with Beontag will allow it to comply with the strict standards of the tire manufacturer and improve the technologies used.

Not so long ago, Beontag also signed a cooperation agreement with Michelin.
