Belshina to start producing tires for electric vehicles
In 2024, the development of passenger tires for electric vehicles will begin at " Belshina", announced the company's general director, Alexander Kovalenko, in an interview with the "Neftekhimia" portal.
Currently, many leading manufacturers, including Chinese ones, already have tires specifically designed for electric vehicles in their range. As a rule, such tires have three key features: increased wear resistance, which is due to the instantly available torque of electric motors; reduced rolling resistance, designed to increase the range without recharging; and a reduced noise level to provide acoustic comfort when driving vehicles with silent powertrains.
Belshina plans to launch its electric vehicle tires into mass production in the third quarter of 2027.
Currently, Belshina's product range includes passenger tires with diameters of 13-19 inches, and the company annually updates its product line. "OAO Belshina offers around a hundred models of passenger tires of various seasonality," Kovalenko said. "Contrary to the popular opinion that they are not suitable for imported cars, I will name the flagship car brands on which our products are installed - Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Cadillac, Lexus, Chevrolet, Nissan, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo, and others".
