Yokohama Y390

The summer commercial tire Yokohama Y390 is not among the latest innovations of the Japanese manufacturer, having been presented by it several years ago. However, its operational characteristics have proven to be so high that this model is still very relevant today, surpassing most of its newer competitors in a number of parameters. Among its strengths are high load-carrying capacity and fuel efficiency, as well as a very long service life.

5-rib design of the tread pattern

Unlike many of its competitors, this model features a tread pattern with a 5-rib design. The use of an increased number of longitudinal ribs did not worsen any operational characteristics, which was largely due to several technical solutions. One of them is the use of trapezoidal blocks located not only in the shoulder areas of the tread, but also on the adjacent sections. This design of the tread elements made it possible to optimize the distribution of external load on the contact patch, which became significantly larger as a result. As a consequence, not only the load-carrying capacity of the Yokohama Y390 improved, but also the traction on dry roads, and due to the grip edges formed by the blocks, the effectiveness of the tread during acceleration and deceleration.

Excellent directional stability of Yokohama Y390

Unlike the other four, the longitudinal rib running along the center of the tread has a rigid, uninterrupted structure without any breaks throughout its length. This gives it increased resistance to deformative effects that occur during movement. The result of this property is good directional stability at any speed, as well as the absence of delays in the tire's response to steering wheel turns.
