Unlike most other representatives of the "off-road" model line from Yokohama, the Geolandar H/T G039 tire is designed for operation only on paved surfaces. As strange as it may sound, this feature is, perhaps, its main advantage. The whole point is the specificity of the operation of most modern SUVs and crossovers, a significant part of which takes place on paved roads. These are the main "habitat" of this model, which is reflected in its name, where the abbreviation H/T means High Terrain.
Z-shaped central rib
The exterior of this tire can be characterized as non-trivial. Its originality is largely ensured by the Z-shaped central tread rib. In addition, this element is distinguished by a very rigid solid structure, which, in combination with the previous feature, provides the tire with not only high directional stability and handling, but also a minimal likelihood of resonance noise and vibration, especially at high speeds.
Moreover, the zigzag shape of this rib made it possible to place a row of massive blocks in the central part of the tread. At the same time, their dual structure provides the contact patch with multiple additional grip edges, which improves handling on dry roads.
Semi-open shoulder areas
The shoulder areas of the tread of this tire are also distinguished by a non-trivial appearance. They are characterized by a non-trivial semi-open design, which contains many separate blocks, also having a composite structure consisting of several elements separated by narrow lamellas. On the one hand, such a structure of the shoulder areas provides the tire with striking stability when maneuvering and cornering at high speeds, and on the other hand, it improves traction when braking due to the large number of transverse grip edges formed by the blocks.
In addition, it is impossible not to note the expanded functionality of the lamellas located in the shoulder areas. In addition to forming additional grip edges, they increase the resistance to aquaplaning and the wear resistance of this part of the tread.
