Despite the Japanese manufacturer positioning the Yokohama Geolandar H/T G033 as an all-season tire for SUVs, it is not. At least, in most regions of our country located near the Arctic Circle. The exception is the southern regions where winter is not accompanied by a large amount of snow and low air temperatures. This model is much better suited for summer operation on asphalt roads, where it demonstrates its strongest sides. First and foremost, this is excellent traction on a wet road, increased wear resistance, and a high level of acoustic comfort.
Composite blocks in the center of the tread
One of the distinguishing features of this model is the design of the central part of its tread. It contains many double blocks arranged at a large angle. When moving, they form a very wide longitudinal rib that provides the contact patch with a large number of very long transverse edges of adhesion. Thanks to this, the tire demonstrates several of its advantages at once - excellent longitudinal traction and adhesion properties, directional stability at high speed, fast and accurate reactions to steering wheel turns.
Wide shoulder blocks
A characteristic feature of the shoulder areas of the tread is also a fairly open design. However, the blocks contained here differ significantly from the similar elements of the tread in its central part. The main difference is the more massive size and transverse arrangement. On the one hand, such a design improves the stability of the tire when maneuvering, and on the other hand, due to the formation of many transverse edges of adhesion and their increased stiffness, the braking distance is reduced, and the stability of the adhesion properties during deceleration and acceleration is ensured.
Long service life
When developing this model, the Japanese tire manufacturers paid special attention to ensuring the maximum service life. To do this, they used a whole complex of solutions that affected almost all components of the tire. In particular, they strengthened the breaker, making it multi-layered, which made it possible to increase resistance to uneven wear. In turn, resistance to abrasive wear is ensured due to the physicochemical properties of the rubber compound, characterized by a high content of silica.
Main features of the Yokohama Geolandar H/T G033 tire
- the open design of the tread pattern provides the tire with excellent performance on the highway and confident behavior on unpaved roads;
- a wide longitudinal rib in the center, composed of double blocks, improves directional stability and longitudinal traction and adhesion properties;
- massive blocks in the shoulder areas provide reliable adhesion during maneuvering, reduce the length of the braking distance.
