Description Yokohama C.Drive AC01
The Yokohama C.Drive AC01 summer tire is designed for car enthusiasts who value both the pleasure of sporty handling and a high level of comfort. This model is intended for the widest range of modern passenger cars with a wheel size of 14 to 18 inches. The excellent technical characteristics of this tire are confirmed by the assigned speed indices H, V, W, and Y.
For this tire, Japanese tire engineers chose a tread with an asymmetrical directional pattern, which was developed using computer modeling tools, hence the name Full Logic. The tread pattern consists of five longitudinal ribs, including both shoulder zones. A distinctive feature of this tire's tread is a special construction whose stiffness gradually decreases from the outer side to the inner side. This allowed for comfort and smoothness when driving straight, as well as the signature sporty character of handling when cornering. At the same time, one of the longitudinal ribs has a continuous, uninterrupted design, due to the stiffness of which exceptional directional stability and braking efficiency are ensured.
Innovative C.Drive Rubber Compound
It is in this tire that the Japanese manufacturer has applied one of its latest developments - the patented ZERUMA technology. The new rubber compound is designed to provide maximum elasticity and grip at the most necessary moment. Thanks to the elasticity of the rubber compound, the tire tread adheres maximally to the road surface, ensuring a larger contact patch area and, consequently, phenomenal grip in any conditions. Such behavior of the tread is ensured due to the introduction of a new flexible polymer into the composition of the rubber compound, the uniform distribution of which was achieved thanks to the ZERUMA technology.
The Japanese Yokohama AC01 C.Drive model is distinguished by increased resistance to aquaplaning, which is ensured, first of all, by the high efficiency of the tire's drainage system. The drainage system consists of four very deep longitudinal grooves, which bear the main brunt of the fight against aquaplaning. Water is collected in these longitudinal grooves and directed outward through numerous transverse grooves. At the same time, the transverse grooves have an elliptical shape, which contributes to an increase in the speed of water circulation. In addition, the design of the longitudinal grooves uses another proprietary development of the company, namely a special structure of the longitudinal groove walls, which, in turn, are also equipped with grooves that ensure a more even distribution of the load and efficient heat dissipation.
Sporty Handling
When creating this model, Japanese engineers were guided by the concept of "strength from within." Therefore, only exceptionally high-quality materials that meet the strictest standards are used in the production of this tire. To a large extent, the sporty character of handling was achieved due to the rigid construction of the sidewalls. This most vulnerable part of the tire is additionally reinforced with a rubber protector with increased stiffness and a steel cord. At the same time, the carcass itself is also distinguished by a multi-layered structure, ensuring high stability of the tire's shape. In addition to two layers of steel cord, the tire carcass is equipped with three layers of nylon, which have given the Yokohama C.Drive AC01 tire increased stiffness and resistance to punctures and cuts. At the same time, the creators of the tire used another special layer, which is characterized by high thermal conductivity, allowing for more efficient heat dissipation.
Often, many manufacturers fail to provide a high level of comfort without compromising other operational characteristics of the tire. Most often, handling becomes the victim of the fight for comfort. The specialists of this Japanese company, thanks to painstaking scientific work and the widespread use of computer modeling tools, managed to achieve an ideal balance between a high level of comfort and sporty handling. The carefully designed scheme for the placement of tread elements, as well as their size and shape, made it possible not only to reduce the level of resonant noise and vibrations but also to minimize the risk of uneven wear.
