The Yokohama AVS Sport V102 summer tire, like all other representatives of the Advance Sport line, is distinguished, first of all, by its sporting character. At the same time, the presence of more than 60 sizes with a diameter from 15 to 20 inches speaks of the excellent applicability of this model to the vast majority of modern passenger cars.
In its development, the specialists of the Japanese company paid special attention to ensuring the efficiency of the drainage system. The main means of achieving this goal was a unique processor tread pattern, which features an aggressive Y-shaped design. This unusual pattern is formed by a multitude of drainage grooves that are arranged at such an angle relative to the direction of movement as to provide the fastest possible removal of water from the contact patch. As a result, the tire demonstrates excellent resistance to aquaplaning even in very heavy rain. Additionally, these same grooves contribute to a reduction in aerodynamic noise that occurs when driving at high speeds.
A special rubber compound was developed for the Yokohama AVS Sport V102 tire, which was later patented. Its characteristic feature is the increased content of silicon-containing elements, which, in combination with the unique tread pattern design, made it possible to achieve excellent traction on both dry and wet roads.
Furthermore, the tire's tread is multi-radius, which ensures the stability of the contact patch size regardless of the driving mode. This, in turn, led to an improvement in handling, especially when cornering. Additionally, maneuverability is largely ensured by the reinforced construction of the shoulder areas and sidewalls, which are equipped with special steel inserts. It is the high structural rigidity that allows the tire to maintain stability when rapidly changing the trajectory of movement, thereby providing sporty-fast responses to steering wheel turns.
