Description Yokohama Advan Sport ZPS
The emergence of the summer passenger tire Yokohama Advan Sport ZPS can be rightfully called a historic event for this Japanese tire manufacturer. After all, this model became the first in the company's history, where the Run Flat technology was applied, which in this case is called ZPS - Zero Pressure System. The practical benefit of its application lies in the ability to continue moving in the event of a complete loss of pressure at a speed of up to 80 km/h for a distance of up to 80 km.
In addition, one cannot but note the affiliation of this model to the Advan line. This means an uncompromising approach to handling and the highest level of safety.
Strength from within
Since, when the pressure inside the tire drops, the entire load falls on its sidewalls, the Japanese tire makers have taken a number of measures to strengthen it. One of them was a special composition of the rubber mixture. Thanks to this, it was possible to significantly reduce heat generation, which had a positive effect on the durability of this part of the tire.
Another feature of the sidewall design is the presence of an "intelligent" rim filler. Its peculiarity lies in the ability to change elasticity depending on the pressure inside the tire. When it drops completely, it becomes very rigid.
In addition, the sidewall of this model was significantly strengthened with an additional steel cord located in the rim area. This made it possible to protect it from destruction due to loss of pressure inside the tire.
Excellent traction in any conditions
As mentioned earlier, the Yokohama Advan Sport ZPS tire belongs to the so-called "high-performance" Advan line, which implies excellent traction regardless of the driving mode and road surface characteristics. A large part of the traction properties was provided by the rubber mixture created using modern nanotechnology. With their help, it was possible to create a stable molecular bond between silicon-containing components and synthetic polymers. As a result, the tread, having become very durable, acquired the ability to maintain optimal elasticity in a very wide temperature range.
Another feature of the asymmetric directional tread pattern is the original drainage grooves of a semicircular shape, located on its inner side. Such a configuration, in combination with different sizes, reduces the risk of uneven wear, while providing maximum traction on wet roads.
In addition to them, the drainage system contains four wide longitudinal channels that allow you to avoid the risk of aquaplaning even at very high speeds. At the same time, their walls contain many small vertical grooves. Their main functional purpose is to increase the clarity and speed of the tire's response to steering wheel turns, as well as its resistance to uneven wear.
Main features of the Yokohama Advan Sport ZPS tire
- the first tire from the company Yokohama, created using the Run Flat technology, which allows you to move at a speed of up to 80 km/h for a distance of up to 80 km;
- the sidewalls are made of a special rubber mixture, distinguished by increased strength and heat dissipation;
- "intelligent" rim filler, the rigidity of which changes depending on the pressure level inside the tire;
- a steel cord in the rim area protects this part of the tire from the aggressive effects of the car's large weight;
- the tread is made of a rubber mixture created using nanotechnology, thanks to which it has become more durable, and also has the ability to maintain optimal elasticity in a wide temperature range;
- semicircular drainage grooves increase the performance of the drainage system, while providing higher resistance to uneven wear;
- excellent resistance to aquaplaning due to four longitudinal drainage channels, the ribbed walls of which make handling more precise and refined.
