Description Yokohama A055
The Yokohama A055 summer tire for passenger cars is a racing tire designed for use exclusively on sports tracks. It is most effective on dry surfaces, demonstrating stable grip properties, stability, and ease of handling when maneuvering and braking.
The tire's tread is essentially a "slick". The only elements of its pattern are double alternating grooves. They are designed to further increase the size of the contact patch with the road surface. The next difference is the profile of the tread with a variable curvature. Except for the rounded edges, it is practically flat, making the contact zone with the road larger and, at the same time, leveling its edges. This significantly improves the grip properties, making them stable. When maneuvering, the tread profile interacts with the sidewalls and carcass, which have also undergone significant changes. They prevent excessive deformation of the tire's contour when subjected to lateral acceleration forces. It is present, but within a strictly defined range, necessary to maximize control over the trajectory when entering and exiting turns, providing transparent feedback on the steering wheel. An important feature of the tire is the rubber compound used in its tread. In its composition, it is a compound from racing tires for the "ring". Compared to the mixture for "civilian" tires, it stands out for its much greater elasticity, which allows the tread to literally stick to the road surface, providing uncompromising grip even under extremely high loads.
Main features of Yokohama A055:
- Double alternating grooves increase the contact patch, improving grip and also increasing its stability, increasing the structural rigidity of the entire tread;
- The "racing" compound, due to its elasticity, allows the tread to stick to the road surface, providing uncompromising grip under extremely high loads;
- The optimized design of the sidewalls and carcass provides ease of handling when entering and exiting turns.
