The name of the SST technology is an abbreviation composed of the first letters of the words Shark Skin Technology. Its essence lies in the use of the ability of shark skin to reduce hydrodynamic resistance. Elements similar to it are located on the bottom and side walls of the drainage grooves, which has significantly increased their throughput and, along with it, resistance to aquaplaning.

The tread pattern of the tire combines the advantages of asymmetric and directional design, since it uses characteristic solutions for them. One of them is the enlarged blocks in the outer shoulder zone. In addition to their massive size, these tread elements are distinguished by their transverse arrangement and trapezoidal shape in the side projection. All this gives the blocks exceptional resistance to lateral acceleration forces, which, in addition to improving traction in turns, provides the driver with very clear feedback. This makes the control process much easier, especially in complex situations.
