Tourador Ice Star TSW2 — studded winter tyre for passenger cars. The model features a symmetrical directional tread pattern with a pronounced V-shaped block arrangement. Metal studs are installed in the central, intermediate, and shoulder areas of the tread.
On either side of the centre, two zigzag longitudinal grooves run. These are connected to wide diagonal channels that open towards the shoulders. Together with the transverse notches between the blocks, they form a branched system for water, snowmush, and loose snow to escape from the contact patch.
The central part consists of blocks with bevelled edges that are oriented in different directions. This geometry creates a multitude of transverse and diagonal edges that successively come into contact with the road during acceleration and braking. Larger shoulder blocks are located closer to the edges, separated by open grooves.
The surface of the blocks is covered with frequent thin lamellas. These run almost perpendicular to the tread elements and complement the large edges with a multitude of small working edges on compacted snow. The lamellas are applied across the entire width of the tread — from the central sections to the shoulders.
The studs are distributed in several offset rows and are not aligned in a single straight line. Thanks to this arrangement, the metal elements come into contact with different areas of the contact patch and complement the work of the lamellas on icy surfaces.
