Directional tread pattern

Since the Shinko 280 model is designed for installation on the rear wheels of touring motorcycles, its tread pattern features a large width and a small radius profile. Thanks to this, it was possible not only to significantly increase the size of the contact patch but also to ensure the constancy of its shape and size even at significant motorcycle lean angles. To a large extent, this is what allowed the tire's behavior on the road to be so stable and reliable.

At the same time, it is impossible not to mention another key feature of the tread pattern of this tire. We are talking about the numerous traction edges formed by drainage grooves that start in the central part and end in the shoulder areas of the tread. As a result, they have a very large length, which made it possible to provide the tire with excellent traction properties in the longitudinal direction, as well as efficiency during braking.

High resistance to aquaplaning

The aforementioned drainage grooves not only form numerous traction edges during movement but also ensure the removal of water from the contact patch. This ability was enhanced not only due to their large width and depth but also due to their location against the direction of movement, which significantly increased the speed of water flow circulation.
