Rauffan Snowmaster S2 — a studded winter tyre for passenger cars. The directional tread pattern combines metal studs, dense sipes, and wide grooves that spread from the center towards the shoulder areas. Drivers benefit from reliable performance across various winter surfaces: studs deliver grip on ice, while block and sipe edges bite into snow, and the grooves effectively clear water and slush from the contact patch.
Studs are distributed across central, intermediate, and shoulder blocks. When driving on icy roads, the metal elements help the wheels maintain surface grip, accelerate with confidence, and brake efficiently. Stud placement across the full tread width ensures consistent traction not only during straight-line driving but also when changing direction.
Large tread blocks form a symmetrical V-shaped pattern, while wide diagonal grooves open towards the shoulder zones. This design effectively channels water, loose snow, and slush outwards. By helping to keep the contact patch clear of winter precipitation, the grooves ensure more predictable vehicle response during thaw conditions or snowfall.
Block surfaces are covered with numerous wavy sipes. As they open in the contact patch, they create additional biting edges that enhance grip during acceleration and braking on compacted snow. Sipes in the shoulder area help maintain traction during cornering or trajectory corrections.
Large shoulder blocks are separated by open transverse channels. These enhance the tyre's lateral stability, while the open spaces between blocks help expel snow and water from the tread. For the driver, this translates into more predictable handling during lane changes and winter cornering.
Main features of the Rauffan Snowmaster S2
- metal studs provide confident braking, starting, and grip on ice;
- stud distribution across the full tread width ensures longitudinal and lateral traction;
- directional V-shaped tread pattern effectively evacuates water, slush, and loose snow from the contact patch;
- large V-arranged tread blocks efficiently transfer driving force on snow-covered roads;
- numerous wavy sipes generate extra biting edges for driving on compacted snow;
- open shoulder channels help the tread self-clean from winter precipitation;
- large shoulder blocks make vehicle handling in turns more predictable.
