The Pirelli Scorpion Winter 2 NCS Elect is a special version of the same-name model for passenger cars, designed for models equipped with electric powertrains. It is distinguished by reduced rolling resistance, acoustic comfort, as well as the same traction and handling characteristics as the original tire.
Excellent grip on snow
The tread pattern is executed in the characteristic design of modern Italian brand tires with a V-shaped arrangement of grooves. But they are spaced at a certain interval, forming continuous edges from edge to edge of the tread. This significantly improves traction and stability on snow. They are also ensured by the use of 3D lamellas with "brand" cuts, fixing them in an open position on the surface of the entire block. The resulting thousands of sharp edges allow the tire to effectively grip even icy surfaces. It is worth noting the shape and arrangement of the blocks, which makes them much more stable, increasing the reliability of handling on any slippery surface. Another solution aimed at providing stable traction on snow is special protrusions on the sidewalls of the blocks. They allow the tread to hold snow mass, enhancing traction properties in such conditions.
Reliability of handling on wet pavement
Another feature of the tire is its increased efficiency on wet pavement, primarily resistance to aquaplaning. To a significant extent, it is ensured by the directionality of the drainage grooves against the direction of movement and their curved shape. These differences significantly increase the intensity of water removal from the contact patch, as well as maintain the effectiveness of this process over a significant period of the tire's service life. As an additional measure aimed at preventing hydroplaning, rounded chamfers of the grooves are used at the points of their intersection with each other, which reduce the risk of formation of slowing-down whirlpools in the water flow.
