When developing the Pirelli Pzero Sports Car, more attention was paid to ensuring maximum grip and handling than comfort. This is not surprising, given that this model is designed for sports cars. Its creation used technologies tested by Italian tire makers in road-racing tires, including Formula 1.
Two rubber compound compositions
One such solution is the use of two rubber compound compositions in the manufacture of the tread. The shoulder areas are made from a compound with a higher silica content. This gives these tread areas greater elasticity, thereby providing better grip, especially when maneuvering and cornering. In turn, the central part is made from a more rigid rubber compound, which improves directional stability and reduces wear during straight-line driving.
Asymmetric tread
The tire features an asymmetric tread design. Its feature is the presence of several functional areas. The inner side of the tread and its central part provide grip during straight-line driving, while the outer shoulder area provides grip during maneuvering and cornering.
Acoustic comfort
On the move, the tire has a fairly low noise level for its category. This is ensured by several factors. One of them is the optimized arrangement of tread blocks and lamellas. In addition, there is a special sound-absorbing layer made of porous material directly under it, which significantly reduces low-frequency noises transmitted to the cabin through the suspension and body panels.
