The all-season Pirelli P6 Four Season tire owes its appearance to the popularity of passenger crossovers with four-wheel drive, capable of developing high speeds on the highway and overcoming light off-road conditions. Car manufacturers and car owners needed a tire that would have excellent handling, both on high-speed highways and off-road with solid pavement. The Pirelli P6 Four Season tire has exactly these characteristics.
Italian tire manufacturers preferred to use a very popular asymmetric directional tread pattern, which has a number of advantages in various road conditions. To ensure excellent directional stability, a very wide longitudinal rib was placed in the center of the tread, whose continuous structure without breaks is characterized by high structural rigidity.
The other two longitudinal ribs, located nearby, represent two rows of combined blocks, each consisting of several parts. This design is replete with many sharp edges and corners. As a result, the contact patch of the Pirelli P6 Four Season at any given time has a large number of differently directed edges of adhesion, which allows for more confident overcoming of road sections without solid pavement.
It is also impossible not to notice the reinforced design of the shoulder areas, which are also represented by two additional rows of separate blocks. Between them are special reinforcing elements that do not allow the blocks to close between themselves, thereby increasing the stiffness in this part of the tread. As a result, the cross-country ability indicators were significantly improved, as well as handling on solid pavement.
A premium class tire should be well resistant to aquaplaning. This model was no exception, as the Italian tire manufacturers did everything possible to give the drainage system high performance.
The main features of the Pirelli P6 Four Season tire
- The optimized asymmetric tread pattern shows excellent efficiency, both on the highway and off-road with solid pavement;
- The possibility of operation throughout the year due to a number of design solutions, including a rubber compound that maintains optimal elasticity in a very wide temperature range;
- Special water-draining lamellas effectively collect water in longitudinal grooves, from which it is quickly removed through a system of transverse channels, which ensures high resistance to aquaplaning.
