The winter studded tire Orium 501 is an accurate and less expensive copy of the popular Tigar Sigura Stud model. It is characterized by an excellent ratio of price and quality for its class, offering high efficiency on any winter surface, reliability, and a long service life.
Excellent traction properties on snow
The directional tread used in the tire, although it looks quite modest by today's standards, nevertheless gives it excellent efficiency during longitudinal accelerations on snow. The V-shaped arrangement of the blocks provides a contact patch with very long and high edges. It is these edges that the tire grips the snowy surface, which is pre-captured and compacted by the tread, significantly increasing the grip properties.
Confident behavior on ice
On icy surfaces, the efficiency of this tire is ensured by a number of other factors. First of all, these are the numerous lamellas. The tread is literally pockmarked with narrow slits. They form a large number of very small but very sharp edges that, penetrating the water film that forms on the ice, grip the road, providing the tire with confident behavior. At the same time, the lamellas have a wavy shape, limiting the transverse mobility of the blocks. This gives the grip stability, and the control process - speed and accuracy. Another factor that determines the tire's performance on ice, of course, is the studs. Their efficiency is further enhanced by the increased size of the anchor, which does not allow the hard alloy insert to maintain a vertical position when in contact with the road. In addition, a two-layer tread is used here, the lower part of which is made of a more rigid compound. It is in this compound that the studs are fixed, which ensures a more dense fixation.
Key features of Orium 501
- excellent traction properties on snow are provided by the V-shaped arrangement of the tread blocks;
- improved grip on ice due to numerous wavy lamellas and studs;
- the two-layer compound prevents the loss of studs, increases their efficiency;
- the increased tread width is provided by an optimized profile in the shoulder areas.
