DescriptionDescription Nokian WR
The Nokian WR tire is a winter model specifically designed for consumers living in Central European countries. During its development, particular attention was paid to improving the tire's ability to resist slushplaning, i.e., overcoming slush on the roads.
These unique properties, which allow movement on slush, were obtained without compromising the tire's other main characteristics. It is perfectly suited for high-speed driving. Even on a wet road, it shows excellent traction, remains stable, and brakes confidently enough. Excellent traction characteristics on wet snow are achieved through innovations, including the "anti-slush" edge, polished grooves, and an asymmetric tread pattern.
The inner part of the asymmetric tread is sharply tapered, has a wedge-shaped form, forming the "anti-slush" edge. It is this edge that starts working when the car drives on snowy slush, so dangerous in winter. The "anti-slush" edge quickly expels the heavy mass of water and snow from under the tread. At the same time, it enhances the work of the polished transverse grooves, accelerating the cleaning of the tread pattern from snow slush and water. The tire features a specially designed ultra-modern asymmetric tread pattern.
The lamellas and the shape of the outer shoulder area improve the handling and stability of the Nokian WR tire on any road surface. The inner shoulder of the tread provides high-quality traction. The innovative stabilizer is an additional link between the tread lugs, limiting their oscillations, improving the driving quality and safety of the tire in any complex situations, especially during acceleration.
The tire's stability indicator is quite important, as it directly affects traffic safety. The unique rubber compound used in the manufacture of the tread contains industrial rapeseed oil and silica. The composition of the rubber compound improves the tire's properties in wet weather. It also reduces rolling resistance, making handling easier and reducing fuel consumption.
The tire has an absolutely new lamination system. Unique three-dimensional "lamella-locks" strengthen the tire, increasing its strength in the longitudinal and transverse directions.
Main features of the Nokian WR winter tire
- excellent handling in any weather conditions;
- unique rubber compound that improves traction and wear resistance;
- a special lamella system that improves handling and reduces noise.

Everything would be fine, but the ice...
I've been driving on these tires for 1.5 seasons (the entire winter of 2007-2008 and half of this one). Initially, the wheels seemed quite good, but at the first contact with ice and very slippery surfaces, well, it's useless... As someone correctly noted: "this tire is for confident driving on a slightly icy and snowy road". I'll add that it's also not bad in the city

I've been driving on these tires for two seasons now. The wear is minimal, to say the least. I didn't even notice it, considering I drive aggressively, often with wheelspin. The tire itself was made in Russia, so I was skeptical at first, but as it turned out, everything is just fine. The first season I drove on a Mazda 6 (205/55R16) and, to my delight, replaced it with a Volvo. On the Volvo, the directional

Excellent tires for a moderate price
Re-shod NOKIAN WR all-weather with a set of Bridgestone Turanza ER30. It became incredibly soft and grippy on the road. Completely different sensations, for the better! The former road noise is gone, the car holds the road much better at a pressure of 2.2. I specifically checked on the same potholes and rails, driving through which was very irritating on the previous tires. I haven't tried snow
