Description Nokian WR Snowproof
Winter tire Nokian WR Snowproof for passenger cars has been designed with the specific characteristics of Central European countries in mind. The model features improved grip and handling on wet and slushy roads.
Alpine Sense Grip
The tire was one of the first models to feature the Alpine Sense Grip technology. It is a set of solutions that allow the tire to adapt to virtually any road weather conditions. They affect both the tread pattern design and the rubber compound composition. One of them is the "snow claws". The special profile of the vertical walls of the drainage grooves, forming additional edges, increases the grip properties on a snowy surface. In turn, the lamellas with serrated edges improve the effectiveness of the tread on icy surfaces. Another component of Alpine Sense Grip is the rubber compound. It contains components that maintain the optimal elasticity of the tread in a wide temperature range, ensuring stable grip properties. In addition, this compound has excellent resistance to abrasive wear and increased thermal conductivity, increasing the tire's lifespan and reducing rolling resistance.
Increased central rib
The central part of the tread is entirely occupied by a wide solid rib. In essence, it is a multitude of polygonal blocks rigidly connected to each other. At high speeds, this increases directional stability and handling accuracy, improves traction on snowy surfaces, reduces rolling resistance, and decreases the abrasive impact on the tread.
Multifunctional shoulder blocks
At the edges of the tread, there are wide composite blocks. When maneuvering, they improve directional stability and handling accuracy. Their transverse edges have a zigzag profile, which increases traction and braking intensity on wet and snowy surfaces.
Low risk of aquaplaning and slushplaning
The tread pattern contains a branched network of drainage grooves. Most of them are directed against the direction of movement, which means that the rotation of the wheel is used to divert water and its mixture with snow from the contact patch, multiplying this process. Additionally, the surface of the bottom and walls of the grooves is very smooth, which further reduces the risk of hydroplaning and slushplaning.
Key features:
- Alpine Sense Grip technology allows the tire to adapt to constantly changing weather and road conditions;
- a wide central rib with sharp edges increases directional stability, handling accuracy, and traction on snow;
- multifunctional blocks in the shoulder areas improve longitudinal grip and stability when maneuvering;
- low risk of aquaplaning and slushplaning due to the direction of the drainage grooves against the direction of movement and the polished surface of their walls and bottom.
