The Nokian WR Snowproof P winter tire for passenger cars is designed with the specific characteristics of so-called "European winters" in mind. The model demonstrates its greatest efficiency on wet and snow-covered roads. In such conditions, it is characterized by reliable traction properties and precise handling. In addition, the tire is also distinguished by its fuel efficiency and acoustic comfort.
Improved resistance to aquaplaning and slushplaning
The tire features Alpine Performance technology, which represents a comprehensive set of solutions aimed at achieving maximum traction on slippery roads. One of these solutions is the tread pattern, which is symmetrical with V-shaped drainage grooves. These grooves are directed against the direction of rotation, allowing the rotation of the wheel to be used to remove water and slush from the contact patch. The grooves have a polished surface, which further enhances resistance to hydroplaning and slushplaning.
Excellent directional stability and handling precision
In the center of the tread, there is a wide, solid rib. This rib helps to reduce rolling resistance and increase directional stability at high speeds. When maneuvering, the rib interacts with the rigid shoulder blocks, providing quick and precise handling. It is worth noting the use of "matrix" support for individual elements. Special protrusions in the drainage grooves limit the mobility of the blocks, increasing the stability of traction, especially when maneuvering.
"Snow claws"
Some of the technical solutions were "borrowed" from the brand's studded winter tires. We are talking about "snow claws". Additional protrusions on the side walls of the blocks allow the tire to better grip the snow-covered surface.
Key features of Nokian WR Snowproof P
- The V-shaped arrangement, direction against the direction of rotation, and polished surface of the drainage grooves minimize the risk of hydroplaning and slushplaning;
- The rigid, solid rib in the center of the tread increases directional stability and handling precision at high speeds;
- "Snow claws" on the side walls of the blocks enhance traction on snow-covered surfaces.
