The winter studded tire Nokian Hakkapeliitta SUV, produced by one of the world leaders in the tire industry, was created specifically for vehicles with increased cross-country ability, including the modern crossovers.
For the symmetrical directional tread pattern, the traditional V-shaped design for tires of this brand was chosen. In the center of the tread, there is a wide longitudinal rib with triangular edges. This not only provided the tire with excellent directional stability but also significantly improved acceleration and braking efficiency. Also, in the center of the tread, the Finnish tire manufacturers Nokian Hakkapeliitta SUV placed a multitude of blocks, combined into two additional longitudinal ribs. On the one hand, due to the close proximity of the blocks to each other, this allowed increasing the contact patch area of the tire, and on the other hand, the numerous sharp edges of the blocks improved the tire's ability to overcome snow drifts. It is also worth noting the special design of the shoulder areas of the tread, also consisting of individual blocks. These blocks have sufficient height to protect the tire's sidewalls from damage, and their sharp edges further increased the tire's ability to overcome deep snow.
In the production of this tire, the proprietary Eco Stud System studding technology is used. This technology represents a whole range of interesting technical solutions that allow the stud to be installed at a strictly defined depth, ensure the strength of the installation, and reduce the noise level. In addition, the stud itself has a four-sided shape, which significantly improved the tire's grip in all directions when driving on icy surfaces.
