The name of the Nokian Hakka C2 tire can be misleading, as it is designed for summer use on commercial vehicles with small payloads, despite having a familiar word that has been around for decades. Another key feature of this innovation from Finnish tire makers is its exceptional adaptability for use in harsh conditions on poor-quality roads. A number of design features ensure its durability and reliability even in such conditions.
Two reinforced double longitudinal ribs in the center
The central part of the tread contains two longitudinal ribs with a seamless double structure. Thanks to the absence of breaks throughout their length, these tread elements have increased resistance to dynamic deformation. This property has been significantly enhanced by special triangular supports located in the adjacent drainage grooves. The practical result of using such solutions in the tread pattern design has been a significant improvement in a number of operational properties. The Nokian Hakka C2 tire demonstrates excellent stability when performing sharp maneuvers and turns, even when the vehicle is fully loaded.
Reinforced breaker
The word Hakka was not accidentally used in the name of this model. Along with it, the tire borrowed a number of technical solutions from winter light-truck tires. One of them is the breaker construction, made from several steel cords. Special strips are located on their edges, which are rubber pads that protect the breaker from damage. Furthermore, a more flexible steel thread was used in its manufacture, which, in combination with the use of advanced winding methods, made it possible to significantly increase the cord density. This led to an increase in the breaker's strength and resistance to deformation, resulting in increased payload capacity and fuel efficiency.
Original bead design
A significant part of the reliability of this model is ensured by the original bead design. The upper part of the bead is made from a compound that is resistant to aggressive mechanical effects, such as abrasion.
In turn, the part of the tire bead that comes into direct contact with the wheel rim contains a special cavity. Inside it is a ball-type filler. It optimizes the distribution of the tire's load on the wheel rim, ensuring a tighter fit to it. This feature, despite the insignificance of the solutions used, nevertheless significantly improves a number of important operational properties. First and foremost, this is handling, which has become more stable and predictable, as well as reduced noise and vibration levels, and a low likelihood of the tire being damaged during mounting on the wheel rim.
Key features of the Nokian Hakka C2 tire
- a unique Aqua Grip C compound composition provides the tire with low rolling resistance, increased resistance to wear, punctures, and cuts, as well as improved traction on wet roads;
- wide transverse grooves in the shoulder areas of the tread, combined with voluminous longitudinal grooves in its central part, minimize the risk of aquaplaning even at high speeds;
- special triangular reinforcements at the bottom of the longitudinal drainage grooves, adjacent to the two double longitudinal ribs in the center, improve directional stability, accuracy, and speed of response to driver commands, increase payload capacity, and prevent uneven wear.
