The tire has an effective water evacuation from the contact patch due to the application of water-evacuating grooves located on the inside of the tire and a reduced noise level. To enhance the resistance to aquaplaning, the Nankang AS-1 tire tread has two wide straight grooves. Increased safety when driving on wet road surfaces is achieved through the application of a method of diverting water into the central groove and then draining it through special curved drainage grooves. The uniform application of thin smooth lamellas made it possible to reduce the noise level and make the ride more comfortable. The unique straight grooves of the tread located on the outer edges helped to increase peripheral wear resistance. The application of the "two-in-one" technology made it possible to minimize the noise level.

The tread has a non-symmetric pattern, but at the same time, the total area of the tread contact patch located on the right side is equal to the area of the tread on the left side.
