The application scope of the Michelin Starcross 5 medium tire is noticeably wider than that of other models in the lineup, which is entirely designed for cross-country motorcycles. This model is perfectly suitable for use on virtually any earthy surfaces, as well as mixed-type surfaces. Its development involved technologies and materials previously tested in tires for urban bikes, agricultural and construction equipment.

Lightweight carcass

Compared to the previous model, the tire shows a significantly lower weight while maintaining practically identical strength and reliability characteristics. This feature is ensured by the modified carcass design. Instead of the previous 3-layer nylon, a 2-layer polyethylene cord is used here. Additionally, its winding density is higher, which allowed for further improvement of the tire's protection against impact mechanical stress, while providing a significant reduction in the weight of the tire - up to 10% depending on the size.

Dual blocks

The tread patterns of the front and rear tires are practically identical, except for the size of the blocks. This is due to the difference in tread width. The front tire has a significantly narrower tread. In both cases, a distinctive feature is the design of the blocks in the central part. Here, they have a composite structure, containing two closely spaced parts. This feature provides reliable traction and adhesion properties in the longitudinal direction, especially on earthy surfaces.
