The Michelin Primacy LC summer tire has replaced the Energy MXV8 model and is primarily intended for the Asia-Pacific markets. The key features of this novelty are reduced rolling resistance, high comfort level, and improved traction on wet surfaces. At the same time, the tire is designed mainly for powerful high-speed vehicles, as it has been assigned speed indices H, V, and W. The range of sizes offered by the manufacturer includes several dozen options for wheels with diameters from 15 to 19 inches.
Low Noise Level
In the development of this model, the company's proprietary Silent Rib Technology was actively used. It consists of several technical solutions designed to reduce the level of resonant noise and vibrations that occur during movement. First of all, the company's specialists increased the number of tread blocks, which made it possible to expand the range of frequency fluctuations, thereby reducing the noise level. At the same time, the width of the grooves between the blocks in the central part of the tread was made the same, which also had a positive effect on the overall noise level. In addition, the shape of these grooves made the tread blocks more rigid, thereby minimizing the vibration load on this part of the tread.
Another means of combating noise was the rubber compound, the composition of which was selected in such a way that the tread became more elastic. This allows it to more effectively absorb shocks from micronodes on the surface of the road.
Low Rolling Resistance
This tire was one of the first to use another proprietary development of the company - the Full Silica Compound rubber compound. With its help, it was possible to significantly reduce rolling resistance, and with it, the fuel efficiency indicators, which are one of the characteristic features that distinguish most of the tire products of this manufacturer. The key feature of this rubber compound is the reduced friction between molecules, which allows the tire to lose less kinetic energy, which led to a reduction in rolling resistance.
Excellent Traction on Wet Roads
The Michelin Primacy LC model stands out for its excellent performance on wet roads for an energy-saving tire. This was achieved thanks to the use of two technological solutions - the above-mentioned Fully Silica Compound rubber compound and the asymmetric directional tread pattern.
The rubber compound used in this tire is characterized by a high content of silica - a silicon-containing substance, which, in fact, is reflected in its name. This component gave the tread elasticity, which allows it to more closely fit even the smallest irregularities on the road surface. Excess moisture is removed from the contact patch through four longitudinal grooves and a system of transverse channels. The dimensions of the longitudinal drainage grooves and the number of transverse channels allow large volumes of water to be removed from the contact patch, which provided the tire with excellent resistance to aquaplaning.
Key Features of Michelin Primacy LC
- Excellent comfort level thanks to the use of Silent Rib Technology and a special rubber compound, which made it possible to achieve maximum acoustic comfort while driving;
- Excellent fuel efficiency is provided by the proprietary Full Silica Compound rubber compound;
- Good traction on wet roads is achieved due to the elastic rubber compound and the asymmetric design of the tread pattern.
